CodeIgniter Creators are out, should you be too?

April 13, 2014

Someone asked me recently if I though the CodeIgniter core libraries would still be supported given that the creators of CodeIgniter have officially dropped it. I could write about it, but a quick vblog is easier … here you go:

Thanks for you vBlog; I guess you are confirming what I had already concluded myself. Which is that without some focus and direction of a project team keeping up core libraries up to date it doesn’t matter what plugins the community comes up with- its going to fall apart.

Such a shame since for me I saw codeignitor having a niche for a large community of people who don’t have an IQ of 160 , but have used PHP for web projects and who wanted to learn new skills.Personally I have looked at Yii and I few others and CodeIgniter was the only one which had a low learning curve and good documentation.

Without such a PHP framework like CodeIgnitor PHP frameworks are going to be more for the elite which is how I personally viewed Java.
